make that one and refine your design if it needs it , then buy some new box section and tube will be a lot easier to weld ect Have you seen the Bean metalworks ones they look good like the galv one a good idea

You want to use crushed glass as your blasting medium. as well as not killing you ,it does not absorb moisture. you`re compressor will be mighty slow, so use a small nozzle to blast with. it is not the pressure but the quantity of air that you need.

Gordon Bennett! - DO NOT USE SAND!!! Read up a bit about silicosis if you don't believe me - it's a bloody nasty way to go. Get the proper grit if you must have a go, but most people who try it give it up as a bad job.
I try to do everything myself, but one thing that's not worth it is sandblasting - leave it to somebody with the right kit to do the job.
BTW A 3 hp compressor with a 50l tank would just about work for cleaning teaspoons - you need a LOT of air to blast successfully. Those little guns need the grit to be completely dry (not easy in UK since April 2012) likewise the air needs to be dry to keep the gun working. "Will I need a mask?" - oh slightly yes :). When I did some front wheels (with a decent garage size compressor & the same silly little gun) I used a full facemask with a balaclava, boiler suit, elastic bands around cuffs inside gauntlets, trousers outside wellies etc. it was crap - I got covered in grit - it was even crunching underfoot in the shower afterwards AND it took ages to do it.
Sandblasting is purgatory - don't do it unless you can get the proper kit!

My brother had the full proper set up and i did a bit for him. I now wouldn't even ask my worst enemy to do it. The stuff gets everywhere, it is a dark, stuffy, manly pig of a job

I have been half thinking of getting a sand blasting set up to do some machinery however after reading this I'll not bother. Thanks for saving me time and money and maybe my life (y)

you will need a mask and eye protection
you will find you get about a minute of sandblasting then have to wait for the compressor to build up pressure again

it may be better to make your carrier then find a local firm to blast the lot in 1 go

Two most sensible posts here - and most importantly DO NOT USE SAND!!! - not a nice job & the gun shown by op would only be good for etching glass
