We finally won!!!:):):) Finally managed to blast past all the b*llsh*t and empty promises, and get our voucher for satellite broadband. Installation and equipment arrived today - hooray!

Our government has been sitting on reportedly, £21 million (billion?) of money meant for improving connectivity in Scotland over the last year. They will now be spending £350 of that to buy and install kit on our house.

I gave up getting any help from our SNP MP, who knew nothing about the scheme - I only found out about the government voucher scheme when I went to the satellite broadband company's website. Unsurprisingly, after completing the voucher request, I got no response for weeks. I then contacted our local enterprise board's connectivity person, and he was able to go in and get the voucher number for us.

We're now waiting for the installation guys. We got the basic package (20 up and 6 down IIRC), which although isn't great compared to built-up areas, will surely be better than what we have now - 3 up and 0.8 down on a good day. Apparently satellite lags so you can't game on it but who's going to notice if you're playing Doom on a DOS simulator:rolleyes:.

Will hopefully have a good report once it's up and running - fingers crossed!
