Used to do more exciting things on a Saturday night. Masey 399 broke the pegs and spun the pump (no shame after 20,000 hrs) New pump £1400. Sourced a second hand one, taking no chances and rebuilt it. Will.pop it in tomorrow.

Never got near my 399 today as this used the spare time I had on her bigger sister. Please Mr Agco why don't you fit grease nipples to all points on your front suspension? Collapsed bearing, dry as a witches chuff and tight tight tight. Had to have a deep rummage in the toy box.

new pump 1400? im guessing that is more than just a pump for the money. Only asking as i fitted a new internal hyd pump, pto unit and a few diff bearing in a 399 for 1800 all in from memory

No, nobody makes a pump for them other than Massey. Four available at Agco in France. £1400 plus VAT (minus discount). That doesn't include the PTO pack in the picture.

Times have changed. Think mine was qtp from a 42 series with shaft from the 300 series swapped. Glad I did mine 2 years ago

An update. When sorting the hydraulics we came to the conclusion that we could do with sorting the gearbox in the near future too. So we contacted the Coventry men and arranged to send the gearbox back to the men that screwed it together 29 years ago. They duly fettled it to my requirements and sent it back. We haven't had time to look near it till tonight and plan to fit it tomorrow. At least we now have it out of the box.
