Don't really understand what your issue is Simon??. It was the warmest temperature ever recorded on the 31st October in a number of different locations within the UK.

I think he was saying that it was not comparing like with like, IE temp in the shade as compared to one taken in the sun

I sort of see where Simon is coming from............is the current weather data being collected from 'modern' (a pole with a range of sensors attached) or a 'traditional' Stevenson screen set-up.

I have found that the new 'modern' weather stations do record a higher temperature compared to Stevenson screen station.
