It seems the scientists have changed their minds and now it's ok to eat sausages and bacon, as long as you get them from a proper butcher. I never stopped eating them anyway

No I have it on very good authority, that if you live 100% vegan, don’t drink and obviously none of the other vices, you will live forever.
At least you will think so :):):)
The downside would be that you have to live for eternity with a massive organic chip on both shoulders and a vile attitude toward omnivores.
Bu99er that, I'd rather die at "three score year and ten" and be pleasant to my fellow human beings

I just ignore all that shite. Everything has to die of something.
These 'news items' (reserved for slow news days) always remind me of my late grand Uncle. At the time of the first 'food scare' I can remember, Edwina and her egg crisis, he said "It seems to me whatever we eat is going to kill us, there's one sure thing, if we don't eat we'll die and sure we all have to die some day so I'll just eat what I want and live with the fact that I'm going to die"!

Nothing new in that, its just a review of other studies so scientists certainly haven't "changed their mind" One small group have looked at things a bit more closely and come up with a conclusion of their own, that's all.
No idea if they are accurate, or who suggested they look and for what reason, its just something else added to the pile of information.
Happens everyday, you just found one that supported your point of view.
Everything's complicated.

NHS - speaks thusly:

All the evidence was assessed to be low or very low certainty. This means the pooled studies give an unreliable estimate of the effect of red or processed meat consumption. The true effect may be very different to these results. You need to use considerable caution when basing recommendations on such evidence, which is why the recommendation is "weak"

Best go easy on processed meat sadly, God I love bacon.

Complicated, over complicated or just confused... ?

Do we need another working party to investigate and attempt to find a conclusion??

I don’t believe any of these articles about certain foods being good or bad for you, since most nutrition “research” has been mainly based on food questionnaires which are completely unreliable, and any supposed effects are very small.
The main thing which I believe is bad for us is obesity.

That’s one big thing wrong in this country.

Too many research grants paying for such things.

Nobody believes they anymore. But there are plenty of scientists looking for cash to research x, y, or z just to keep them in a job for another year.

I reckon a huge proportion of all research done only benefits a small community....the research community!!
