What’s it like in your area? not good round here ,plenty of dippers around but they’re to tight or won’t use them for sum reason
Sum got in with my ewes last week,how long would it take to show it’s self?

While your waiting for it to show itself it will be spreading imo, had the same problem here few years back but didn’t realise the neighbours sheep had been for a visit, while I messed about thinking it could only be lice it was just taking hold!! I’m going back to dipping this year for piece of mind, it’s the only cure all, used to think it was a ball ache but having to jab every ewe maybe twice is equally a drain!! Bad and only getting worse year on year.?

Its defiantly getting worse each year. It isn't helped by some of the large store sales selling sheep riddled in scab.

Also it doesn't help when people bring welsh sheep into the area with scab and let the keep getting out!

I was told 90p/hd the other day. Not sure how representative that is though, it sounded plenty.

£1 around here,for 500+ numbers.But thats with the Golden Fleece in.I think it is about £300 or so for a small tin.

I thought that, at that price, it ruled it out for blowfly control. Clik costs similar but gives twice the cover of OP dipping, and none of the health risks.

For clearing scab it’s a different argument of course.

for that no. i would be £1.50 this time of the year,full wool sheep take out a lot of water and therefore a lot of chemical

I was wondering about that earlier. Are shedding sheep cheaper, as they obviously take a lot less out?

yes and they run better,to be fair it's no fun for us or the sheep this time of the year,i would rather not be doing any at the moment but we are off again tomorrow and i think most or the other contractors are still busy

With the amount of scab about these days, no doubt helped on by increasing resistance to ML jabs, I don’t think you’ll be running short of work any time soon.

I saw a hydraulic dipping unit that had just been made the other day, commissioned by a contractor that was having trouble keeping up with his Portaquip.

With the amount of scab about these days, no doubt helped on by increasing resistance to ML jabs, I don’t think you’ll be running short of work any time soon.

yes, whatever they have got when they go in they hav'nt when they come out
