If lambing lasts 3 months thats 2 and a half months extra of straw... corn... hay... checking every half hour... staff too cover nights... then there’s lambs all being at different stages for ovivac and worming.. ewes being at different stages for heptavac pre lambing... some people work elsewhere too so don’t want too be off work for 3 months lambing 20 sheep that didn’t catch until the bitter end...

I can understand not caring how long lambing takes on a hill farm scenario but not for most others

Remember that some people keep ewes that can actually lamb themselves.;)

But yes, I won’t have it dragging on either.

I can assure we I work somewhere else (3 days for someone and 500 ewes for someone else as well as running 400 ewes and 800 dry sheep myself.)You have it wrong if you think you have to sit with sheep 24 hours a day to lamb the last 20. They do it themselves and I would much rather have 30 more lambs at the end then have to replace of load of empty ewes.

I don’t have 20 sheep left at the end of lambing that could pop any time in the next month too have that problem... but I certainly wouldn’t be going to work for 12 hours a day 7 days a week in the hope that they don’t get into a mess while I’m gone ... and I wouldn’t want too land my boss in the sh!t either by wanting too leave in the middle of a job because Iv had a phone call that there’s a ewe running round with a lambs head dangling out of its fanny[emoji849] no thankyou not for me

Isn't that massive for swales?
It makes me nervous for these big scanning's until I get mine done, I hate the wait for scanning time.
900 last week with me, mix of mules, Texels, exlana’s and welsh plus 60 ewe lambs in that, 19 empty ( mostly reabsorbed or lost) and 180% average, nothing higher than 192 :D 10% triplets. Very happy with it!! And hopefully the rest scanning next week will be just as pleasing

heard of someone locally with 215% and their going for sale in a week as it was too high
