Scanned my Beltex (76 days) , cervical AI'd with fresh collected semen and tups left with their groups for 24 hours post procedure. Sync'd with sponges (not changed) and with 1.25 ml of PMSG
27 done;
3 empty inc' two that didn't hold last year,
4 singles,
18 twins,
2 triplets.
not much cop with working out percentages but very happy with conception and scanned lamb rates.

Neilo, that's the type of words I used as they were scanned but I was trying to pretend at least to be a 'civilised Scot' whilst in print. Yeah I was prepared for 50 ish % retention to be honest and even Scottish secondary school maths O grade (failed) leads me to think it's more than that.
I used 3 tups, had a friend familiar with the technique who arrived before time, had time to spare and who refused to be rushed. I think being able to leave each group with its tup for a further 24 hours may have contributed to the success.

That's a hell of a scanning for the Beltex ! And massive success on the AI front . My pedigree Beltex did about 140% (yearlings too fat and all only had 1 a piece) .Laproscopic AI ewes only held 12 out of 20, but they were AI'd later than meant to have been as the technician was running well behind (n)

ET ewe held at 80% so can't complain overall .

I count myself as very fortunate. I will owe Raymond who AI'd them a massive favour. I tried Lap' A.I a few years ago. I went with the biggest company, did my drug programme to the minute, turned up voluntarily 3 hours early to help those planned to be in before me, worked all day like a slave, watched big names due in after me being served and had my sheep done many hours after their allotted time. The company, recip's, semen and my time cos me a fortune and I got 3 or 4 fert' eggs from over 40 collected. Now I may be polite but that's not the same as stupid, I know these procedures are time sensitive. Once bitten never go back.
That one day shaped my policy for the future. Otherwise I'd have had a couple of very expensive proven breeding ewes and given the company a small fortune every year to flush them a number of times. 'Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me'. I won't willingly shame myself.

You can have sh*te flushes, where you get a load of unfertilised eggs. I flushed 5 ewes in October 2015. All were AI'ed at the same time after sponge removal. All superovulated well, so they responded to the drugs, with several of them having over 30 eggs & nearly all good to implant. However, one ewe had 33 embryos and only one fertilised, despite being treated just the same and even using the same ram.:( It happens.
We flushed her again this October and intentionally AI'ed her several hours late (or rather pulled her sponge several hours early) and she had 8 good and 5 unfertilised.

I took two ewes and was probably the neck end of ten hours later than the anticipated time of insemination. I was timetabled 3 ex 5 on the day, watched two of the biggest names in texel breeding tagged 4 ex 5 and 5 ex 5 come in after my running later than expected slot get done, use my labour to crate their sheep, use my labour to load and leave before mine were done. I'm no expert on A.I but when would you decide you'd been had?
And yes, I am sufficiently self aware to believe my sheep were as worthy of their rightful, bought and paid for slot as any other breeders regardless of wealth or reputation were. It is pretty well reported that programmed ewes will skip several cycles.

A couple of hours doesn't generally hurt, especially with frozen semen, but 10 hours (it must have been a very long day) is clearly a different matter. I agree, I'd have been jumping up & down if any 'big boys' jumped in and took my slot too. Your money is as good as theirs, and quite likely paid sooner, going by the reputations some of the big names get.

He sold the triplets and quads and the man who bought them winter sheared them and rescanned after shutting them tight and when sold there was 19 triplets 11 quads? Rescan was 11 triplets 17 quads and a 5 so after the rescan they woudl if been 300% if scanned correct first time around? First cross from a Welsh and did them as hard as we could

I think with Aberdales there's doing them hard and then there's doing them hard. Managed to get ours ticking over nicely at 190/195% for a few years now .
