Booked to scan my ewes for the first time this Wednesday, just wondering any advice? They won't be getting hay the night before, and have a friend to help me keep them moving.

Due to start lambing 5 April, hoping to give the ewes heptavac booster as I have them gathered. 7 weeks until they start datasheet says 4-6 weeks prelambing but hoping close enough?

Id leave it till atleast 3-4 weeks before lambing to get the highest concentration of antibodies in the colostrum

Our scanner man likes 'em penned up a good hour before he's due to turn up - he reckons their guts are less 'fizzy' of they've stood a bit.

I prefer to leave it until 4 weeks before the first ones are due, then the later ones are 6 weeks off.

If you do it 7 weeks before, the latest ones in the first cycle are 9 weeks off and any returns (in the second cycle) could be over 11 weeks off - too far IMHO. The data sheet says 4-6 weeks for a reason.
