Cluster flush just hides a mastitis problem
Keeping cows with mastitis issues is the real problem because them cows are just infecting other cows at every milking
A lot of vets have told me 200 is the limit between infected and unifected
Cows above 200 towards the end of lactation is understandable because she's milked for months but a cow fresh in to milk should be below 200 or she's got a problem

Never worked out why milk from organic herds have higher “acceptable” cell counts and bacto scans allowed than conventional. Cell count above 200 for our buyer costs 1ppl

With our milk buyer the organic pool has the lowest average scc compared to conventional, free range, channel island and welsh milk, all with the payment bands, extra 0.75 if under 200.

No health benefits for the cow or consumer then?
Then filter the good and bad bacteria out?

Pure and natural 👍

Actually you are very very wrong.
Antibiotic use can cause infection rates in cows with low SCC.

Have a Google and see.

Plenty of farmer now use selective DCT.
Perhaps you should too?

Milk buyer withstanding, before they all started setting their own standards, the organic milk minimum standards to be fit for human consumption were lower than conventional.
Higher or lower?

Legal minimum is 400 for all milk as set by FSA. Go over that and you will get a knock on the door.

Anything else is set by milk buyer.

AB's cause infections? That's a good one even for you @Sid !

Well, if it's on t'internet it MUST be true!

I will reduce the amount of preachy bo llocks I read on the internet right away- @Sid now "Ignored"
Bury your head all you like but it's proper research.

Evidence suggests sealants by themselves can be more effective than either antibiotics by
themselves, or a combination of antibiotics and sealants, in reducing new IMIs, particularly Gram-
negative infections (Bradley et al, 2010). Antibiotics, by disturbing the natural balance of protective
skin commensals, may themselves be a risk factor for new IMIs

I respectfully suggest you open you eyes and remove your blinkers.

A cow has a great immune system.

Also mentioned on that page

Bradley AJ, Breen JE, Payne B, Williams P and Green MJ (2010). The use of cephalonium
containing dry cow therapy and an internal teat sealant, both alone and in combination,
Journal of Dairy Science 93(4): 1,566-1,577.

Is the paper where its mentioned as well.

Not sure the actual in and outs but our vet said the same using AB tubes in cows with no problems can lead to infections. Possibly worth having a chat with your vet about it, we moved onto sealant about 8 months ago and touch wood so far really pleased.

I don’t have a big enough set to not use Dry cow therapy here.
