Think they are taking the pee this time.kids are on October holidays just now.then as of Monday schools in Perthshire are on strike for another 2 weeks!!

An they have the cheek to send out attendance letters if you take the kids out of class time.not to mention the poor parents that have just used holidays for child care.now have to find another 10 days!

Ridiculous!

School is not a free babysitting service, if you have kids look after them yourselves.

My daughter's school are scheduled to be on strike for a week out of every month left of the school year currently, and their union reps won't engage with the local authority until the impossible is granted for them !

Fair enough......BUT when the schools send out emails/letters explaining how much they will fine you for taking your children out of school for holidays and then go on strike for half of this month and then are scheduled to on strike for a 1/4 of the school year its somewhat irritating! My wife and I know lots of teachers and some of them are very good, work hard and do long hours, some are the exact opposite and one of them even said that it's the long holidays that is the attraction to the job. You get both types of people in most areas of work tho so it's not just in the education profession!

Now I'm training to be a teacher, I am a member of a union. But this does not obligate me to strike. What it means is that I'm potentially loosing training days which is unhelpful.

With my parent hat on, my youngest had two out of three years in ks3 with *no* maths teacher. Now, half a term in to ks4, his teacher has been off for four of those weeks. Came in on wednesday - back off sick Thursday.
