Turns out my left side of my spine is 2 inch compressed compared too the right which is trapping the nerve glad I got it done. It should fix but will take a lot of time and physio but its been building over a lot of years To get as bad as that.
The main cause is sitting in a tractor twisting round to look at the machine behind
Been having back issues which seemed to have developed into Sciatica and just found this thread, can I ask what route you used to get a scan and diagnosis so quickly?

I am over 6ft and had back issues on and off like most people. One day whilst wearing shorts I notice one calf looked smaller than the other so ran the tape round and there was three inches difference. Doc sent me for mri then to specialist who said I had a ruptured disc and I was 2 mm from needing a pee bag for the rest of my life. I had the opp ,6 weeks of doing nothing then light duties for a while and 7 years on not really had any problems since just still have one sparrows leg!

tell the doc, you have trouble peeing, that tends to speed things up.
l used to go every couple of hours, as had no feeling of need, or going, and had no intention of an 'accident' Coming back from theatre, after 2nd op, wonderful, felt like l needed to go, and did. The first op, 1 in 3 chance of ending up in a wheel chair, bit scary, surgeon only told me after the op, said it had to be done, and didn't want me worried about it, ideal.
By the time of the 2nd op, things medically, had moved on, and l was given 3 choices, do nothing, and eventually it would 'sort itself out', second, injections, which might work, or an op, with that's what you need !
but 20yrs on from that first op, scar tissue, and arthritis, in my spine, have left me pretty crocked up, but not in a wheel chair ! Which could well have been the case, one has to make the most, of what you can do

That’s good it was improving, not so good about twinge but i suppose more time and chiropractor will help.
Mine has not been great right through lambing but got a lot worse yesterday morning so will try and get into doc’s this week but appointments are like hens teeth.

I can understand the desire to get an answer but 90% of sciatica will sort itself with time and stretching. I had a weak painful leg 20 years ago but downplayed my symptoms as I didn't want an operation with the risks you mention.
Every farmer will have signs of disc damage if you scan them so you have to tie the symptoms to the results otherwise you will get an unnecessary operation where 10% will be worse off due to excess scarring of the nerve. No cure for that.

1st op, ruptured disc, had paralysed one leg, leaving me unable to sit, and walk, 4 weeks on the floor at home, 2 weeks flat in hosp, before they would operate, the leg was much thinner, than the other, surgeon was quite impressed, l actually hadn't realised the difference !
2nd op, referral from doc, straight to hosp, and in, op much nicer than the first, but to much damage had occurred, for full recovery, now, 2 sticks, blue badge and pain relief plan - which l can adjust to suit. Chairs are my biggest 'problem', some fine, others leave me inactive for a day, or to.
An awful lot of farmers, end up with new hips, knees etc, and bad backs, l was just unlucky, but, l can still do a bit, that's the important bit. Live in hope, modern science can do a bit 'more', but l think that's unlikely.

I ve had the last 3 months after hurting my back. I go to a lady that does some sort of muscle manipulation. Not sure what it is. Type of bowen therapy I think. Made a big difference to me.

Painkillers, physio and osteopath were a waste of time. They all said it was a disc problem but this lady says its a muscle in my hip somewhere trapping the nerve
I like Bowen works for me !

Hello! I was on holiday in Germany, where you can buy Acuraflex in the pharmacy, but I ordered online because It was cheaper. I got it for muscle pain relief because many people told me it works very fast and well. They were not wrong! Excellent product with great effect, I recommend it! I hope it can help you as well to live normally!

The diagram of the body she had showed where the sciatic nerve is and I was supprised to see it crosses in an X in the lower back ,,pins and needles at the back of the knee in the opposite leg determines which side is nipped ,,that and the pain that puts you on the floor

Sciatic nerve is a beast of a thing, it has several nerve roots. It also branches lower down and controls the front and rear of the lower leg, plus the foot.

Here is a wiring diagram:

I have highlighted the sciatic nerve- the big one. You will see it's roots come from a variety of locations on the spine and it runs the posterior compartment of the thigh- the hamstrings.

The femoral nerve innervates the front compartment of your thigh- the quads. The obturator runs the medial compartment of the thigh.

The pudendal nerve coming from S2,S3,S4 is what gives you voluntary control of number 1s and 2s.

Lastly, the sciatic nerve has a weird course as it makes it's way down toward the knee, it has to pass between your pirformis muscle and the bone of your pelvis and can be trapped there if you happen to give your piriformis muscle any grief- piriformis syndrome. I reckon I managed to do this once by overly stretching when I woke up one morning, the pain in the entirety of my leg was off the scale, fortunately it disappeared a moment later. Go steady out there.
