Boris wanted us out of the EU by the end of October... he could easily have done it but he back tracked. He lied about his position. And if he lets Big Ben ring out at the end of this month as is supposedly planned, he is lying about the UKs current position - as we will still be EU members on 1st February

Would you preferred Salmond to have simply said it was a golden opportunity?
We all know the point he was making when it was said... Yet many keep mentioning it as if it was legally binding, but you've just said there it was found there is no timescale restriction on another referendum
I really couldn`t care less :whistle::whistle:

What do you think is wrong with my deductions? Alternatively, could you present your own estimates of what proportion of voters in Scotland want independence?

We don't know, hence the requirement of a Referendum. But you can't assume because folk didn't vote, or whatever party they voted for it identifies their position on independence and the lies they where told in 2014. And undoubtedly a large bribe ( up to £8 billion maybe?) will be forthcoming from Westminster, if NI is anything to go by, that will undoubtedly influence any outcome.

Do you care either way as to whether Scotland leaves the UK?

I don't see what right Westminster feel they have in Scottish people deciding what we want for the future. As for "regional governments ", we are not a region, we are a country, a nation and to be governed by such a distant Parliament that will never understand Scotland and our psyche feels very wrong to me. I am not saying that Scotland would vote for independence, just that WE should have the choice to choose.
You had it in 2014

To be honest I am not sure. In 2014 I was against independence as it appeared to offer modest benefits but a lot of expense and uncertainties. Since the EU referendum I suppose I have moved away from that, as one key reasons for remaining in the union was continued membership of the EU. This was a factor which was endlessly pushed by Cameron to the Scot's, yet proved false 18 months later. Plus the during the last three and a half years Scotland has been totally disregarded in all negotiations to the point were Scotland is not even mentioned in most Brexit documentation nor it's opinions sort. Couple this with many current devolved powers coming back from Brussels being taken back in-house by Westminster could lessen Holyroods power. However, I would like to see any independence vote on a 'super majority' to avoid a repetition of the Brexit debacle.

Yes we did, all the whilst we were told that the only way to guarantee remaining in the EU was to vote no to independence. I know plenty that voted no in 2014 that would now vote yes simply because of that one big fat lie!

Hardly a lie when you have had another 5 years in the EU since.
Who was to know that the UK would vote in 2016 for the UK to leave ?

I can think of many responses to this, but the one that keeps coming back to me is - Away an bile yer heid! There was nothing united about the kingdom that voted to leave and we are still not united. NI will get special treatment, Scotland and Wales will always be an afterthought at best by Westminster. You may be happy to settle for scraps though. I would prefer the choice of scraps or making our own way.

A nice pleasant response to my pointing out that it was hardly a lie when no one knew in 2014 how the country would vote in 2016.
The democratic structure of the UK may not satisfy you ( and it may not me either ) but it is what we have and we all know how it works so generally we accept that we win some and lose some.
My own thoughts however are that since the 2014 Scottish referendum there has been a material change and as such if Scotland wants another referendum it should be able to have one.

If there is to be another referendum, it has to be organised and overseen by an independent body. The Scottish Government cannot be involved in any way, because the SNP/Greens alliance are in control and are completely and utterly biased,

And there can only be two options on the paper.

1. Do you want Scotland to remain in the UK?

2. Do you want Scotland to leave the UK?

And the question should be reversed on half the ballot papers, even if it takes longer to count.

And only those with an IQ of over 95 should be allowed to vote, which excludes almost all those from the Central Belt or West Coast, or Dumfries and Galloway.
