Scottish government machinery grants?

I've not had a letter about this scheme yet but my answer will definitely be No, I'm not prepared to give a grant to the Scottish government (or any other ) for machinery purchases.

Farmer I spoke to says there is a fixed pot of money and so if the claims are greater then the grant % will be scaled back. If he is correct getting 50% may be doubtful and could be very much less.

No indication of that on the website. Given they mention scoring, I’d suspect it more likely to be that some applicants are declined, rather than all being moderated.

My understanding is they will be ranked. People with a carbon / nutrient / vet plan would be first pick then everyone else. Once the money is gone that’s it so you might / probably won’t be successful.

Which is quite a restriction if you choose tractor tyres or the hydrolyser
But not if you get given this like a friend of mine - I say given . If he sold it he would get far more than it cost him . Is it 50% of the cost

I agree it’s almost like impossible to police, but they have spent days measuring fields for other schemes.

not wishing to sound ungrateful, but it is a bit of an odd scheme. Very few of the options genuinely reduce greenhouse gasses. I am surprised items like low energy lighting or improving insulation in cold stores isn’t included.

Spoke to a machinery dealer today and a couple of points I thought interesting were no finance on any of the purchase and all items that you have been awarded must be on farm and installed and working or ready to be put to work no later than the 31st of March. Failure to get any items to that stage would be a loss of grants for all items.

Yes (only 40% though), but you guys even receive your sub money ahead of the grant scheme. They even helped you find your 50%.;)

This is first time I can remember there being any grants for machinery in Scotland.
Been countless threads on here about similar schemes available in England & Wales in recent years.
Not a case of some getting more than others. All depends on how each country decides to make the funding available.
