Scrambler motor bike as a Christmas present

Your not my wife are you? Because that's exactly what she said!!

If I thought like that, I'd wrap them up in cotton wool and wouldn't let them out on the farm to do jobs.

I get there is an element of risk to the sport but he playes competitive rugby, and some of the hits he takes and gives I have to wince and look at the ground until he gets up!
Yes just be careful , we got a pony last Christmas for my 13 year old , so we have had two hospitial injuries so far , the second one only yesterday evening when she refused a jump and came off breaking her elbow after hitting the jump. So expect bumps and bruises but good training is vital. Best of luck . And your right don’t ever wrap children up in cotton wool.

I hope she does a speedy recovery.

Got my eldest a crf100 last Christmas (he was 12 then). Took me ages to find a nice, unmolested one and he was over the moon. It lasted till February when some thieving toe rag kicked it! That’s when we decided to get h the 125 version as it was clear the 100 would soon get out grown.
Now his younger brother has decided he wants one so I’m again on the lookout for another one.
Also quite fancy a 250 for myself now!!!

its also great for building long lasting bonds with your boy.... I will never forget the time dad saw my chain was not tight (it wasnt, they have to have slack due to suspension travel) and decided to tighten it. I was in top third, hit first jump then landed and snapped chain. I got back to pits and chased him with the biggest spanner i could find!!!!! Great memories!.

:D

Remember having a "discussion" years ago at my local Bike MOT place and the bike mechanic there, who could not understand why my chain was so slack.... It was a Yam IT175 enduro bike, and no, it didn't need a tight chain like a short travel road bike.... He wouldn't believe me!

Roadracers...

Only last year I had mine at the MOT station to get it checked and the guy walked round it fiddled with the pedals a bit shook the handle bars and says "mate I'm not really sure what I'm meant to be looking for here, I hope you don't mind but I can't brake test it" he was about 5ft I'm 5'9" and find the ktm sits high for me. Got the mot cert job done no hassle.

I got my 12 year old a xr400 , he certinaly treat it with respect at first but gives it everything it has now at 14 , it’s of and era when bikes were good never missed a beat in two years and it’s over twenty and Appreciating, but not every 12 year old will handle a 400.

Shhhhh, dont mention the XR400 in @Johnnyboxer's hearing... ;) He will be posting Honda Porn!!!

I have an NX400 which is a Brazilian trail version of the XR400. Softher engine and sussies, but wonderful motor, pulls like diesel :)
