Scrap Metal Price

We got £105 / ton for mixed scrap last week, and they are paying £640 / ton for batteries.
I have a pallet loaded on my trailer to take in in the morning, but you have to get a licence (free) to transport your own scrap, and one for hazardous waste, (also free), both on the EA website.

i have a trailer load of heavy scrap to go sometime, i could of gathered it all up and sold it when prices were better but i missed the boat on that one, so when it plummeted i let it sit.
there id be at a guess about 20 odd tonne of it.
finally its one the rise again.
ill cash it in at some point, but when is that point.
its eatin no grass here so im in no panic to shift it and obviously the longer i wait the more i might get for it but i wonder where and when the next plateau will be.
any forecasts?.

I have an old JCB loading shovel and a Massey 865 combine as investments. Wasn't sensible enough to cash in when they were worth £250 a ton, but thinking of cutting my losses and letting them go now.

im half thinking about 8 to 12 mths time it might be worth a tad more.
would it be safe to assume that its bound to be drying up a bit, there isnt as much going on and a lot of it went when times were good.
or is everyone sitting on it for now..

it will be on the up because of the weak pound, i would guess to be honest if that is the cause its unlikely to keep but who knows o_O

ive got a 5 tonne road roller to go but not sure if i should wait for a while, took somer mixed crap in oct and it was around 85 tonne just glad to see back of it!

yeah, the money is the thing thats give it a bit of a boost, my scrap man was saying if it alters it will alter the scrap too so its hard to judge the market, he knows what steel is doing but things in the economy what with all the big changes could scupper it.
im in a similar boat to you, if i had to go with it in the morn i really dont have it all gathered up and loaded, i have the half of it done but i think ill wait and see, i might jump at some point but ill gamble on it for now.
altho i always end up bringing steel to him and then bringing some home..

We got £650 / ton for batteries just before Christmas.
Sorry Roscoe, just got back to this thread, JCB is sitting on 20" wheels as it's an ex army 410M, so not a lot of use I would think.
