Took a load of mixed today - bent field gates, old lamb creep feeders and old rusty cattle barriers-£80/t. Is VAT normally on scrap? Nothing showing on invoice when I had a look after I had left. they paid directly by bacs.

Only VAT added if you charge it, legally you should have, and declared it all, you are selling used items that you originally claimed VAT on and tax relief.

You have to take a blank invoice with you and fill it out to suit once weighed.

I maybe wrong but if they pay you i believe if you get £120 they will put it down in there books as 100 plus 20 vat
Or if they dont am shure your books should show it if you’re vat registered

They "shouldnt" because without the sellers VAT number on an invoice / self bill they cannot claim the VAT back.. applies to everyone, hence you ask for a VAT receipt when buying petrol etc.

£135 for heavy today from EMR in Newcastle.
Had an argument with the grab crane driver, i had on my trailer a knackered Keenan feeder full of scrap and the machine couldn't lift it so he said i'd have to take it home. Told him to cowp it off the side cos i wasn't going anywhere till my trailer was empty. Turned out it all weighed 9 tonnes and the machine can only lift 4.
