You should charge VAT and it goes on top of the price not taken out of it. I guess it means it has to go on the books as a sale but as it is straight in the bank how else would you account for it.

What grade do people put farm scrap in as? Whenever I weigh anything in at one of the yards round Hastings they always want to put it in as "light iron". If there's no fence wire or old white goods in amongst it, what grade should farm scrap be?

Unless they check it all I suspect they put farm stuff as all the same typical mix, IE fence wire at the bottom!
