Scrap Metal Price

Just tell the scrapyard there is VAT to pay on it. You give them a VAT invoice, they pay you scrap price plus VAT and then they claim the VAT back.
All very simple and straight forward. The VAT you collect goes in your accounts and dealt with when you do your returns.
Thanks,
took a load in last week they paid into my bank account no mention of vat, I will have to sort this out for the next time.

You need a good account manager, to look after you,
This was from one I deal with,

Who did you get the skip off if you don’t mind me asking and we’re you content with the weight?
Moss bay. Thought it was a bit on the light side maybe. But then there is a lot of gaps in it. Everyone seems to think they are fair round here. Bit far for me to go with my own and Longtown don’t have the best reputation. Skip has been here for a few years, filled a few times with lighter crap which I’ve sold to a guy with a hiab on his truck, including some Newton rigg cubicles with legs filled with concrete. But when it’s full of quality and price is good, thought I’d get them to change it.

Skip away of mostly heavy scrap this week. £190/t all I did was Chuck it in the skip, so happy with that.
I've asked some skip comps a few year ago about dropping skip off and for me to fill and they wouldn't entertain it , wanted to charge for taking it away the muppets , things must have moved on if your getting that sort of money just to fill and they takeaway !

Local yard I use are fair, I've had quite a few skips of all sizes in the last couple of years and no complaints, also picked up a couple of 4x4 , the price I got was Fair IMO and don't think I'd have been any better of taking them in myself

These are a scrap company, not a general skip company. Bet they haven’t a clue where half their skips are. Seems to be one in most farm yards round about. We are 30 miles from their yard. There is a big yard 18 mile away, but nobody seems to use them 🤷‍♂️

Years ago I had a 30 yard skip dropped off by the main scrap dealer around here. I filed it and told them it was ready to collect. They sent out a replacement when collecting it, not something Is asked for at all. They never paid me as they said the 2 skip deliveries came to more than the contents.

I've never used them since and found another local yard regularly pays 30% more anyway!

"Years ago" the scrap might not have covered delivery and collection costs as it was dirt cheap for some time, remember having to pay £20 to get rid of a car.
Just shows though that some are better than others. I'm just glad to have been able to get rid of some of the sh1te we've accumulated over the years, even better to get a few quid as well

At that time the 8T or so that was in the skip was worth around £750, even at their prices. Their skip charge was £200.
