X4!!

Now then just need to figure out if pos and neg is the normal way round if I go direct to the battery on a negative earth tractor :scratchhead:

The 35 should be negative earth, (but some were positive) you can check this by following the wire off the negative (-) battery terminal. It will be going to the bodywork for negative earth.
Then earth (connect to clean steel work) the negative from the lights.
The positive from the lights, connect together and connect to one terminal of a simple switch.
Connect the other terminal of the switch to the positive on the battery through a fuse (15A).
Tidier to go the the big terminal on the battery rather than the battery, but get them working first.
How does that sound?

You mentioned an alternator few days ago, if you're going to go for one then now is the time as it will need an ignition switch with an accessory stage to energise the charging light (the dynamo one does not have one). If you go down this route then you could wire the lights (as they're only LEDs) off the accessory stage and a separate switch and they woukd go off with the ignition. Just a thought.

If you do go down this route keep the dynamo and control box just incase you need to revert back to original in the future.

Fudged up my other post it was meant to say positive earth tractor.

I was thinking I would wire the lights together twice once to pos once to neg and take each wire to its respective position on the battery. Therefore no need to use the chassis at all. and just put a switch in the positive line somewhere?

I'll keep the dynamo for now. Might change over in summer time. Or leave it untill the next service whenever that may be :whistle:

OK that will work ..........
But please put a fuse on the Negative Wire (because its positive earth) as close to the battery as you can. You might say what if it does burn the old tractor? Well it wont burn in isolation, very easily take a shed and contents with it. Remember the lights will be wired 24/7 so the risk is there all the time, even with no one in the yard/with the tractor.

Rant over ...........

You can buy in
A fuse is easy even in cheap mode
2 blue female insulated connectors and join with a blade fuse a wrap with tape and you have a safty device
Or just fit a proper fuse holder from your motor factors

You can buy in-line blade fuse holder with leads attached which you can terminate with suitable terminals.(ebay)?

Ok, in all seriousness I'm down in town at the moment I'll call and see if local dealer has a online fuse or will do as @REStractorATION suggests with the spades just for now.

Might try with a 10A fuse first as a google search suggests they will only draw 6A between them.
