I've bought some 16mm threaded hex connectors and will probably try to cut and shut a length of 16mm threaded bar into a drill bit = bodge.

I just thought I'd update the thread as reference (for myself)

I once extended a 16mm drill that was 1ft long by welding it into some electrical conduit (any suitable pipe would do) about 2 ft long to make a 3ft long drill. I welded a 5/8" bolt into the chuck end of the conduit so the shank would fit the drill chuck. That was about 30 years ago & I used it once last year! so the bodge was a good 'un. You would have to cut the SDS shank off to weld into the drill end of the pipe though.
Now I have a couple of Kango's as well, and I reckon you could bodge up a male K taper quite easily with an angle grinder & a bit of magic marker to get the fit right? It's this SDS crap that will be your main problem - can you get a lend of a Kango?

Hi, looking to drill down a hollow block wall to put rebar in. I have a 4' drill but need another 3-4' of extension bar(s) to get to base. any ideas?

That is a massive distance to drill down.
I would be tempted to slant drill through the face of the concrete into the foundation then tap in some rebars at an angle. You can then put the vertical bars in and fill. Another idea is to cut out some mortar courses with an angle grinder to half the thickness of the wall and lay some horizontal bars in. Then when you fill the pots you will have a criss cross mesh of rebar. The sloppy concrete will run into the horizontal cuts and fill them up a bit then point in the front.

Avoid those extension pieces which use a grub screw to hold the drill bit in place as the grub screw falls out no matter how tight you get it leaving the bit stuck down the bottom of a hole.
