Securing mobile handling systems

How do people stop their handling systems getting nicked. Mine is in a locked shed but wonder if there is anything I can do to it to make it less easy to make off with.

So is a toyota, but they only cut off the catalytic converter... They want easy in easy out, selling a handling yard more difficult than getting a good price for scrap. We're not dealing with Alan Sugar here

Most cars are stolen to order these days. It's organised crime - not opportunist.
Same goes for quad bikes and Land Rovers.

You can't just walk into a scrappy any more and ask for cash...

Well I'm just going on what Rappa said to me last year when I bought a yard from them and asked about buying their special ink to mark it. The honest answer from them was you can buy it from us if you want, but it's not a lot of help, because it's the aluminium hurdles they want and that will be melted pronto.

like lead off church roofs etc, there is only a limited amount of scrap yards, police must know, I don't think they are that stupid, if they kept raiding scrapyards randomly, and frequently, should slow the thefts down a bit. Accept there are 'other' places, but they are not easy to hide, and locals know where they are. Or, is it a simple case of, 'to much hassle' for them ?

Thanks for your thoughts, taking the draw bar off would be a start. I didnt want it nicked, now I have to worry what they will do with it afterwards!

We wind it down and take the winch away with us. If your worried about someone taking just hurdles you could chain them to trailer base? Ultimately chains can be cut and if someone really wants it (and I’m not nearby with a length of 4x2) they will take it!!! However slows down opportunists and hopefully they go looking for easier target

got myself some wireless laser sensors around the yard from ultrasecuredirect.com. I wouldnt want to confront any burglars but hopefully switching some house lights on would be enough to make them buggar off

my mate had a sensor or somthing round his quad bike and it went of one night on his phone him and a couple of other guys he was with rushed up the far and caught the three guys and gave them a good hideing. Then a few days later two of his sheds went on fire. So just let them take it if the police cant get there.

When it was just my grandparents living up at the farm (3/4 mile off the beaten track) my grandads anti burglar method was to wake up when the dogs set off, go get 12 bore. Out the bedroom window into the sky with both barrels. I had too stop this when we moved in as my wife nearly had a heart attack at 5am one morning! ??
