Security cameras

As our car got the window broken, and the wife's bag lifted, in broad daylight, while it was sitting outside the house on Friday I find myself looking to install 1 or 2 security cameras with a recorder.
The logical place to put the cameras is on the farm buildings looking down the drive and at the house. Needing something which will get a reg number at 20 metres(ish). Ideally it would be handy if I can review the recordings from the pc or pad. The cameras, recorder, could live in the buildings, my house wifi will just about make it there if needed.
Don't expect it will make a whole lot of difference but might let me see who to beat the crap out of if they come back.

Any body got a recommendation, lots of kits on Google but not many images from them:(

I've been considering something similar after the wife stopped some of our traveling friends coming up the drive "cause they'd been asked to look at painting the sheds"

I've seen the Swann setup in maplins but haven't stumped up for it as not sure it would be up to the job of covering the yard & drive without needing 10 cameras

I would recommend IP cameras and a NAS(network address storage) box - these cameras can be powered by the ethernet cable (PoE - power over ethernet) that supplies the video so they are easy to rig up ie no messing with mains. With a little time you can also watch the cameras live on your phone browser be you at home or away - even email you still images based on movement in determined zones as an alert.

We have a Reolink solar powered camera in the hanger keeping an eye on the plane
Connected via sim card, alerts you when motion sensor is activated
No mains power, just small solar panel
