anyone know a manufacturer of forklift tote bin / hopper.
to hold 2x600 seed
dont want to see swinging bags on tines anymore with people and expensive drills underneath.
It always makes me think, when the telescopic it at full reach and height with bags swinging! If the hoops tore it could be fatal.
We used to use a trailed hopper years ago with an auger on, but it was only a small diameter auger so a bit slow, maybe the time has come to look for a larger diameter one.🤔

We’ve just converted an old 3ton fert spinner, dead easy & cheap & plenty of room for 2 ton seed, bit slow to empty though about 5mins for 2 ton but nice n safe! Hyd on /off etc in forklift

was thinking of something to fill our combidrill. some good ideas but you still have to fill them. (we are using straight out the heap) i was thinking of agrain bucket move the brackets up higher thenat the back edge putting in a 6ins slide to open in the centre. has anybody done this . this way bucket can hold 1 1/2ton and can be wider than the drill

An old Weeks trailer with auger would be the job or suchlike as above, at least you would have other uses for the trailer throughout the year

I’ve used totes before 1500kg on pallet tines I didn’t thing they were any safer. As they’re lifted from the bottom they become top heavy fine round the concrete yard get them down a track or off an un level trailer. All round best best job is seed bags. Been there tried that.

I use these bins, I fill them in the yard stood on a ladder up the side so not directly underneath. It holds 2 ton of wheat it is quite top heavy when moving it full. I’ve put a ram on it to open and shut so don’t need to get off the forklift. The best thing I’ve found is that if you don’t need to run the drill empty to get a bag in you can put as much or as little as you want.

I have been trying to source tote boxes for years to use for seed. Have accumulated a few 1T metal tote bins but really want something bigger. Bought a V mac wide bin last year and put hinged hungry boards on it so esay to fill with grain bucket .holds about 1.5 T of wheat ...... However i reckon James Alexander at Primewest has cracked it : He has adapted a drill hopper to make a 3T forkliftable hopper complete with weigh cells so you know what you are putting in the drill . Give him a ring and tell him i sent you !
