OK ...... they are the new Kent & home counties mutation.

In truth, they look like the seed of what we call "Pen Caled" (hard head) in Welsh but I'm damned if I can remember what the English is

That's the plant

and would also occur in grassland so very likely be cropped in hay

Has anyone looked at Thornapple (Datura stramonium? This could be a very serious problem as this is a poisonous member of the nightshade family.
