Im getting the vibe from from my arable pals that like everything else the price is rising but more concerning is the availability and delivery time , are others in the same boat waiting for seed

No im thinking the same to be honest. I wasn’t planning on having any second wheat but my beans haven’t passed for seed so I was weighing up options.

All bar one variety is here ready to drill. I’m waiting on 2tonne of C1 Skyfall seed.

It’s 80 miles away so can collect it myself if needs be.

There is no problem with availability over here, but the price is steep 550 a ton for barley 565 for wheat .
Blue label single dressed .
Maybe its time to sow it off the heap !!:):):)

The first of 5 loads of seed Skyfall left today, the rest should go on Monday.
I’m told most merchants have been dressing winter barley flat out, but are now starting to move on to wheats.
Every year it seems to get later and later for seed crops to move, but this year it does seems very late.

Everything on farm and in stock from our regular smallish local company. Waiting on 24t from a big national company, I don’t need it yet. Was told it was in the cleaner yesterday.
One thing I’ve noticed recently is that smaller companies seem to be much more manoeuvrable and better to service. Smaller haulier, smaller seed merchants, smaller buying groups etc.

£550. For 5ha pack hybrid winter barley

that is very cheap for what we pay for treated, bagged wheat / barley seed, but then we sow at much lower rates & use a very high proportion of FSS. Most people only really buy seed when changing to new varieties. But, we do pay EPRs ( end point royalties ) on every tonne sold, so that is how seed breeders recoup their investment / make money out of the variety

The variety I ordered through seed merchant and was promised last week hasn’t arrived! Told it “may” come sometime next week 🤦🏻‍♂️
