:D

ideas what for short term . or fairly short term maybe not brassica, forage for sheep grazing or cutting silage/.hay

prefer none or v low fert use as well.

just after some inspiration really.............

not a vast area though so don't get too excited :sneaky: tia.

How long do you need it to live?

If was only for a 1-2 year type thing then potentially something angry and growy like an IRG with a large leafed clover that you could cut if you wanted to but which would also graze ok.

Festulolium won't be that cheap but will live longer than that.

yes maybe a large leaf white would be just as well.
roughly speaking 1 to 3 years ,im still trying to shake out and kill the bent population i inherited fair old seed bank.
its good enough ground to grow corn but im more into sheep these days. i really want to make some quality silage. plus grazing. fairly well drained not heavy soil. apart from a patch or to which i wont worry about might put some timothy on that bit anyway.

we got on well with mvf s hi pro mix in the past that was red and hybrid lasted well been in 6 yrs and onl;y just petered out not helped by hammering with sheep.recently .

You will struggle to make hay from what you ask for
But your best option at cheapest costs is buy some straight Hybrid Ryegrass and mix in some clover
will be for silage nearly always.

got a field of hm 16 that was good made hay from it once actually. was cut with a flail as well. thats lasted for 5 yrs coming out soon for herbal leys on the scheme though.

HM 16 is very popular
For short term though a lot just sow straight Aston Crusader with 3 kgs of Red Clover, works out around £10 acre Cheaper

no because the prg in hm 16 helps keep a bottom in it both longer term and for out of cutting season sheep garzing
also the particular red clover or clover sin it are the longest lasting i ever had, given the abuse that thye csheep have given them over 5 odd years

hence that is a very good proven mixture here, one that i cant find in others mixes and im no going mixing my own now. not even adding chicroy in with it because that will puncture the silaged wrap /plastic :meh:

so festololly um can wait for another day lol.
