Well done for sorting yourself out, many would not have the gumption at your age. If your ex employer is not forthcoming with wages owed and relevant paper work then perhaps a letter threatening reporting to HMRC.
Some on here may know, but could the OP threaten the use of small claims or some kind of debt recovery for wages owed? My shake some sense into the ex employer. I wonder if said employer looks in at this forum?

If he doesn't want to pay up, would anyone know the legal stance on the 'missing' £400 a month? Not exactly right as such but if he wants to play with fire, I'll have some ammunition against him, plus renting out illegally etc. As to if he sees this, doubt he would know it is me, and if he does, what is he gonna do about it. Seen some ads for wage collection on Facebook so is an option but would imagine that they would take a nice cut

Yes but it might shake the ex into some positive action for your part.

Have asked on agriculture FB group if anyone knows any wage collection services. If he hasn't paid me by the end of the month, I'll get someone involved and maybe include the £400/m depending on the legality of it and how much of a fight he puts up

Been on the phone to another organisation like citizens advice but they were closed. Been advised to write a formal letter to them putting the amount of pay owed and the deadline. Before I write it, if anyone would know how to calculate statutory holiday pay and would be willing to give a hand double checking that it's all correct, I would greatly appreciate it (please private message me). I will also look into reporting them for renting out illegally - no building perm, no landlord tax and that lot once I've got pay sorted out. Thanks for the help

From what I've worked out it's 10.6 days and got a figure for that but just want someone to check over before I send anything to them.

Young folks need to get themselves to Aus, NZ or North America soonest to see what life is all about and work somewhere to get good experience. I didn't and it is one of my long list of regrets in life.
Maybe next year, too late in the year now and got myself a nice place to work. Might even be able to come to the arrangement with my current boss to go away for a few months over the winter and come back for Jan since it's quiet until then

Difficult one to answer - I'd ask for what you've calculated, but suggest he gets his book keeper to check.
This is what I've replied, 'No rush for P45 but if you can send it as soon as possible please since my new boss will want it. Statutory holiday is the minimum holidays you are entitled to (calculated on hours or days of working depending on how your paid). At end of employment, any untaken statutory holiday gets paid. From what I calculate, it's 10.6 days of statutory holiday pay at full pay (calculated on average of 12 weeks). Something like £500-600 but you'll need to check.'

Erm.... 'Your holiday entitlement has been calculated based on your employment terms notice given and your history/ time off and has been settled within your payment made by our accountant on the 31st of december'. Anyone any ideas? All ive received £540 yesterday (31st) after tax and £200 rent taken out which would be £902.88 pre tax and rent. Their 'accountant' is the wife since she does the wages. And I've not taken any holidays. I've had a few weeks where I've been given a day off but never received any holiday for them and weren't taken as holiday.

They have admitted that you did not work fixed hours so its their fault if they did not have a timesheet system.
If you have time I would sit down with your diary and work out the hours you actually worked, not just the days you worked. I used to work 24hour and 12 hrs shifts and was entitled to all the holiday hours I worked not just the days I worked.

I have all my timesheets to the minute. I know exactly what days I worked and how many hours. I have checked and not had any time off in August except from my weekends

That screenshot doesn't show right to the bottom for some reason but also lists the 30th and 31st as worked also the total amount of hours and pay in that month

I'd probably just walk away at this point. Your time and energy is probably better put to use in your new job. And sooner or later he's going to get hacked off with you pushing him, and he may turn out to be the vindictive type...

Chalk it down to experience, learn what you can from it and move on.

Happy new year; make it a good one. (y)

(Easy for me to say. I'm not the one who feels hard done by...)
