SELLING PRICE

Indeed. I don't buy much, and I usually buy S/H. But I do buy stuff. If dealers think I'm a waste of time, or I don't quite meet up to being a " Proper farmer " on here....then tough.
Most Farmers I speak to just" jog on", and will not enquire if they can't be bothered to say what they want for it?
Got to be trading standards somewhere ?

Don't think I've ever seen a car or commercial vehicle advertised with POA. They generally also take trade-ins. So it cant just be the trade-in excuse. POA is a con just to try and find the keenest buyers.
Surprises me that more people dont advertise secondhand machinery themselves and that most are content to just trade in to dealer. I have always sold cars, tractors, machinery secondhand myself and have always got much better price than offered as trade in. Usually get trade price from dealer so can go back to them if I can't sell and then advertise privately. Recently got £3000 more than trade in on sale of 3 year old Discovery. Last tractor was a JD6920 where I think we sold for approx £5000 over dealer trade in offer. This approach is more hassle but I think the price gain is worth the hassle.
Well said

Have you ever phoned up for a POA price and found it was surprisingly cheap?
Anyone??
Yes, more then once. I hate poa as much as the next guy but hey, sending an email enquiry isn't all that bad.
On the flipside, I did enquire about something a few days ago to be told, call us. That was a first, and I hate calling.

issue is if its cheap and the photos are up its usually sold before you find it, on the other hand its a dealer trying to work out who you are to reorder the numbers in a price. Was quoted 'X; amount on a new tedder, whereas family was quoted a considerable amount less. Which then resulted in a harsh phone call for the dealer and a cheaper price again or we'd look at being fleeced elsewhere for everything.

I love bad adverts. If it puts everyone else off, that's great, less competition. Bad photographs, bad descriptions, poa....if I want it and it's local, always worth a look. But I agree about hating phone calls. I want face to face so I can read the body language! 😂
I find if ur askin face to face the dealer knows if ur a serious buyer or not and if u are they normally try to come down a bit or throw an extra ir 2 in to sweet the deal. Also sometimes tryin to price brands of each other doesnt work as they hear that everyday whereas if ur standin in the yard sayin i would like that but ul have to do better they kinda know that if they do a better theyl be gettin a big fat cheque

Not a great fan of POA but if there is something i want to genuinly know its selling price ive not been ever intiminated to ask the seller
and got answers within 24hrs but i think it shouldnt be allowed myself.
Does it tell us if 3 diff farmers rang up & all total strangers to the seller we would 100% get told the same price?? who knows
And what any trade in has anything to do with a machine for sale with POA on is beyond me.
You ask for the price you then get it ok there is your starting point.
If you then say oh i have this to trade in are you interested if so whats that knock off the balance
Simples end of.
Either your happy or dont buy it or buy it & sell your machine yourself

do you put a price on an ex farm condition ( yes we know the price ) or do put it through the workshop and advertise it fully serviced and washed / repair all the faults that wasn't mentioned when the deal was done IE ( intermittent electrical fault when the engine is warm ) or noisy gearbox when or brake linings worn ) its unbelievable the amount of tractors that have major repairs needed just by being driven on the lorry.

I bet it's AMAZING how often a machine is perfect when it leaves a farm as a P/EX (and they're actually sorry to see it leave :-0 ) and then when it arrives back at the yard it need 3/5/10k spent on it to make it useable. You guys need a lorry with better suspension ;-)

Hopefully you'll remember the next time that they want to trade an old piece of sh1t that the last one fell foul to your rough transportation!

Quite - take the price or advertise it for months at the price you actually want, then forget about it, and when you see the weeds growing up through it next year advertise it again for another load of tyrekickers. Finally send it to scrap after refusing many reasonable offers over the years (ask me how I know!)

Other 1 that annoys me is when trading in they ask what do you want for it!?

Well obviously as much as possible. I'm greedy. Poa allows traders to offer what somebody wants for trade in and they can jack up sale price accordingly .

If you buy a copy of classic tractor it should be called poa because nothing has adverts with prices. Kevin Kingston’s adverts have 0 prices on. And there’s a reason because he’s so bloody dear full stop. You can guarantee he’s 200% market price without fail.
