Selling to farmers

I cant believe I didn't think of this before.

Our business relies on the ability to sell to farmers. We are only a couple of years old and very open to new ideas.

So my question.....

What is the most effective way to sell to a farmer? and what is the most original way you have seen?

New machinery rep - drove through farmyard - made a list of all the equipment he could see - phoned up for an appointment and gave me a quote for wearing metal on cultivation equipment and other spares we might need for our tractors. I thought it was very effective and straight to the point.

Reply to feckin enquiry.
Re doing a cubicle shed this year and contacted 3 firms for prices on fixtures.
Not a dicky bird back.
Chased them up today, was promised call backs. Nothing:mad:.

I'm sure it's just agriculture that's like this as we are replacing the doors on the house as well.
Had people out, doors measured, new ones chosen and quotes given from 2 firms inside 48 hours.

Send a fit woman round (y)
don't have to be fit, just charming and polite, but most of all know the product they are selling inside out, back to front, and top to bottom, and can give a very good answer to all questions, yet not trying to be clever or pushy, no low cut tops as the customer will not be thinking about the product,
oh and get her to follow up after the sale even if paid for, if not then to collect the money if not paid
