selling up

Indeed, I do know of women who have set out with deliberate intent on bagging themselves a farmer and knowing where most young men keep their brains it’s probably not that difficult.
Footballers wives seem to attract a similar reputation.
But it would certainly be very wrong to tar all women with that brush indeed I’m sure they’re very much in the minority.
My wife has worked very hard to get herself a wealthy farmer. 25 years so far and if she keeps working at it in another few years she might be married to one.

Aren’t you a veg grower ? 😂😂👍
I met her when the people I working for brought in sheep to graze the leftovers. After got married we then took over a mixed farm with 200 dairy cows and 400 goats. The next farm we ran 200 cows and 400 goats. Now we've just 3 cows but we've got 8 dogs. So over the year's I've saved a fortune...result.

Esther our nanny has been with us 23 years. Both kids have pictures of them and her as screen savers on their phone's both of them tell people she's their mother which gets them asome funny looks as she's very black and they're whitish. I'd recommend getting a nanny and sending your kids to boarding school age 5 . It solves the problem of what to do with them.
Can’t see the point of having kids if your going to send then away and let someone else rear them. Yes we had a nanny but only to fill in the time when mum was working on the farm. It was either that or a day care nursery but they close too early. The nanny was treated like family and we even took her to the Dominican with us on vacation as a thank you for being there when needed. grand parent weren’t in a position to help,my parents were too old and the wife’s were more concerned with their social life. In the end the wife and the nanny were less happy with each other and the nanny quit to go travel. Kids are much better behaved with mum cracking the whip and family life is back to as normal as it can be.

It's sarcastic whilst lots of people give the kids to the nanny never to see them again we are lucky to be somewhere where you can employ staff to make your life easier. All through our early married life my wife had her vet practice and as she had Esther she could go out on calls with the kids in tow or work in the clinic plus she used to look after the milking when we had cows. As for them going away to school here if you want to educate your kids in the English system then they go boarding however if kids have no other knowledge of school then boarding works out well. I reckon my kids have spent more time with us than I did with my parents who were very busy and the same for my wife whose parents were doctor's. The level of attention our kids received would be far greater than in a normal home with two working parents leaving home early and coming home late and tired.

It is a different situation on every farm and I totally agree that a lot of parents only see their kids at either end of the day. My parents were much like that because both were working all the time. Although at around 6-7 years old dad would include my sister and myself with chores and checking cows. I had a good childhood although parents never had money to spare for much. I had kids late in life and with the farm it’s easy fir me to take a kid along and to be honest I love doing it.the school system here isnt what I would call good but I could bare sending my girls away to boarding school. Thats partly because if it was me I’d would have hated it and I think both of them are learning a lot just being around the farm that a school can’t teach. Older one I thought might be a vet lol.

Obviously if you make your kids work like this they'd normally be keen to sell up as soon as possible and not choose a particularly good care home foryou either.

I can't lose what I never had
You can't take what I ain't got
When I'm happy, you won't make me sad
Depending on you all
Well I'm not
Cause I started out with nothing
And I've still got most of it left

what is the problem?🤔
A farm we rented had a badly designed irrigation pump station and when the river flooded it would fill the sump with mud that could only be cleared by mixing it up with water and pumping it out with a small mud pump . It wasn't a pleasant job so I'd be in the hole with the workers to make sure it got done and when I got fed up I'd send the kids down because that's what bad parents do.

No favoritism. Exactly as it should be.
