Evening all. We had a calf go cold on Thursday with all the rain, shivering and hunched up. Brought both calf and mother into the shed and bedded down with straw. Shivering has now stopped but the cow keeps licking the calfs feet which we thought was odd.
Just brought the rest of the herd up today and noticed a few were holding their feet up. Licking them themselves and also kicking as if trying to get the mud from between their toes.
Anyone seen anything like this? What do you think it is? The field they were on, with the current weather, is now a mess... Haven't seen it that bad since 2012 and they are all going in the shed tomorrow once its dried up a bit. Obviously we will keep an eye on the feet as I am assuming it has something to do with the wet conditions, some sort of trench foot but for cows... So with them on a dry straw bed it should clear up.
