Serviced agronomists, do they take advantage of the customer?

Try to be in every field every week in the growing season. Obviously there’s less to see in winter and certain critical timings need more frequent observation e.g. slugs, flea beetle, blossom midge

It sounds like much pee is being taken to me

Time to ask some questions I think

Yep I’ll be having a chat to our man and discussing their pricing of chemicals etc and how we will be looking to change if things aren’t improved dramatically. All the joys of the first year of having the land back in house rather than rented out.

we are spending £8.05/ha on T3 - that's for strob and teb, more than good enough given disease levels this year

You could add CTL tho that for about another £2.50 / ha if pressure was high

Total fungicide spend this year will be around £65/ha and that includes a top end SDHI (adexar) at T2

You'll be fine. I dropped angry and they still send me invites to all there meetings in the region, I've even still got there basic NDVI thingy-ma-jig as I'm "customer". They're thick skinned so you'll be fine.

I don't get invited to their beanos anymore. But I'm not too bothered: the final straw before dropping them was an OSR open day which turned out to be a Agrii / Monsanto version of a cult recruitment meeting. Two dozen farmers in the corner of a remote field being aggressively lectured on why we had to plant Monsanto varieties, while they (Agrii) slagged off every other breeder "You know what DSV stands for, dont you?, 'Dont Sow Variety'."
Between that, and the "you're on the 'special' price list. So 'special' that if other farmers knew about your prices they'd be angry, so don't talk to anyone about the 'special' price list..."

It only takes 10 minutes on the 'chemical price tracker' thread to realise why they try to keep their 'special' prices a secret...

I love the fact that the agronomist wanted to spend more on the blend than the single variety. Clearly didn’t grasp the concept!
The variety, Nelson, with the lower cost of inputs is probably the variety with the best all round disease resistance available so if there were any potential savings due to the variety then you would see it with Nelson.

This used to wind me up but actually I couldn’t give a toss about people getting fleeced and being utterly clueless, it’s their own fault.
I agree to a point about being fleeced but I still get worked up about the over use of Chems which will come back and bite us all in the arse eventually, it's morally and environmentally wrong.

But it still goes on...

The rate we are loosing chemicals, it might bring about the end of the serviced agronomy business model!

Hopefully as they’ve been thieving off farmers for years. They should be taken to task through the courts for crimes against the environment and fraud against their customers. It’s no different to a doctor prescribing medicine a person doesn’t need and making that person iller. If joe public found out about the misuse of chemicals on their core food ingredients there’d be hell to play.

The nelson is spotless even in the corners where I missed with the sprayer just very tall but still standing well I migh be brace next year and leave a small feild not sprayed at all unless it desperately needs it but I was always told it's a organic variety
