Setting up a caravan and camping site

Anyone recently set up a new site? Is it worth going with the likes of caravan and camping club and set off little, or just go to the local council for planning and open a larger site from the get go.

We are located on Anglesey, North Wales. The site would go hand in hand with our other business ventures, staff, machinery and all equipment needed for the site we already have.

Any advice and opinions welcome!

Hi,Sorry it's taken a while to reply, been working at the park this weekend due to it being open weekend. I work at Langcliffe Park which is about 1 mile out of Settle N Yorks. The park has approx 75 statics,5 timber clad lodges ,70 caravan pitches and 17 tent pitches.
Last year the park applied to expand the site to add 51 statics and move some of the caravan pitches to an adjcent field as well as a new shower block and reception..This was handled by a specialist leisure planning company based in Leeds who did everything from plans ,enviromental surveys etc. Unfortunatly the plans where refused but were later resubmitted for just the statics which were passed..I asked my boss about your question ,his advice is talk to everyone planners ,caravan club, and take specialist advice.
Have a look at the parks website www.langcliffe.com as will give you an idea of what people expect on a campsite.I will also send you a pm with a few thing to look at.If you have any questions ,feel free to ask .

We have a 5 star touring park in South Wales and will gladly give TFF members a 10% discount if any one wants a break from farming and free advice on establishing a touring park (as long as it isn't within 30 miles of ours!). We are open all year and central to anywhere south of Aberystwyth so reasonably convenient for the Royal Welsh, Cardiff Arms Park etc etc.
