Setting up a drum mower

Hi, I have a Kuhn 170 drum mower, in the instructions it says to set the mower parallel with ground, then you have to hinge back the transport mode bracket and lower, there is a slot on the mower arm, and the instructions say lower until the mower is half way down this slot, this must allow for undulating ground! yet there seems to be an awful lots of weight from the link arms pushing down to achieve this midpoint... any suggestions or helpful tips?

Is that the old PZ version? If so if it’s on a suitable size tractor you need it working with PTO shaft as close to level as possible with the linkages free to move to allow the mower to follow the ground. You mention weight from the links pushing down? Most tractors are singke acting anyhow and just go down by gravity

Hinge point of the mower should be just above level with the bed . Link arms would be about a foot from the ground and mower bed should be about two turns of the top link forward from level
