Met Office had been until 2 weeks ago very accurate the last few months with their short range forecast, clearly since then they have adjusted the computers/ the way they interpret the data or it could just be they are doing good weather forecasts as this is the start of the UK tourism season for home stay holidays..

Mole Valley have now put their weather forecast back on the website, this is one of the most accurate sites and all week it has been forecasting rain/ showers each day this week/ end whilst the met office/ BBC etc has been saying it will be dry and very sunny all week..

On Weds, east/south was still supposed to be dry though! Only hope is that this current forecast is also going to change... :(

My experience tells me that when you need the forecast to change (ie you have hay down for example) and you need it to be dry in order to get it baled then the forecast will be correct and it will rain, but when you don't need it to change (because you've managed to get your hay the day before) it will change and the day in question will be dry...........:(:(

5 day forecast on Wednesday has proved to be diabolical here. Everyone cut grass on Thursday and have now been caught with their trousers down. I did wonder what I was doing tedding grass in the rain today, other than wasting diesel.
Sunday was forecast good with rain Monday. Now they've decided it's heavy rain All day Sunday

Sooooo if the 5-day forecast is that bonkers for all of you, that means planning a trip in September is probably not predictable at all is it? Wellies or trainers or sandals? What to pack?

If you are coming to the UK , September means definitely pack some wet weather gear, pretty much always wellies at any time of year anyway in UK if you plan on visiting the countryside, also its autumn so even if the weather is nice during the day, the evenings will be colder so you will need warmer clothes as well. Plus it could be horrible weather anyway, there's no telling with our climate. September is often a nice month here tho, clear sunny days, which can result in some stunning scenes of yellow and brown leaves on the trees and hedges.

This week has been a pain in the ass, the weather forecast has changed every day. We cut on Wednesday, got some baled yesterday in between 2 minute showers, should get the rest done today.

I cut 10 acres of hay in the vague hope of making it into hay but think I will wrap that up today as well.

Don't know what you boys keep moaning at - I can hardly remember the last time it rained here, they keep forecasting it, but we don't get any!

Its not the amount we have had probably less than 50 mm since mid May but it is just enough to spoil haymaking especially horse hay, but I know compared to those north of the midlands we are very lucky, feel very sorry for them, not much cash in the job at the moment and having to paddle around in mud in summer adds insult to injury

On Simons site he openly admits his predictions have been wrong this week. The weather isn't doing what they would normally expect compared to previous similar conditions.
Perhaps it's this el nino thing.

Just in from hauling the last of mine in, luckily one of my customers agreed to have it done as haylage instead so that saved the day and the other piece was very light as they had horses on it till april and it always dries quickly. Very lucky to get away with it, bet it doesnt rain now
