SFI pilot

Well I have had it with this now.

Emails still aren't coming to me direct, so I am missing some fairly important ones I think.

The amount of nonsensical rubbish coming out is overwhelming, there's nobody listening to us when we ask questions, utter shambles.

The rewards do not add up at all.

I am pulling out

How's everyone else finding it???

The fact that the Team handling the Pilot, cannot deal with queries is hugely concerning for a Scheme that is supposed to go Live in June...

Heard a similiar story from an aquaintance (not on TFF) where he had a number of questions that rerquired answering before he could crack on with some of the work for the Pilot. As far as I know he was still waiting 6-7 weeks later!

I think that this vagueness and farmers inherent distrust of DERFA and the RPA/NE is enough to make most farmers walk away from the whole sorry mess. Maybe in 12-18months time, it might all make sense....?

One sided legal document. You’d be bonkers to sign upto it.

Have resorted to hitting 'delete' on SFI pilot emails as my inbox can't cope. I'm sure there are important ones amongst them, but when you open one and it is inviting you to 'share your thoughts on the language we use' and such nonsense, you do rather lose the will to live.

I am now just going to employ a tactic of waiting to see if any start to come with that red 'high priority' symbol next to them, they will presumably be the ones that need to be actioned in order to get the £5k (the only reason we signed up to be a pilot) .

Notwithstanding the above, I maintain my faith that they will get there. Gotta smash eggs to make an omelet.

I am afraid that I answered that one, but possibly not quite how they anticipated! ;)

The concern, is that the eggs might have gone off before we get an omelette.....

I haven’t kept copies of the questionnaires I have responded to but I am sure the last two were duplicates.
Has anyone been paid yet for the proportion of the £5K for the first year of their participation in the pilot?

No money received yet, and that's partly why I'm out. Before I get into paying it back.

There's no way I'm going to have the time to deal with the nonsensical avalanche that just keeps coming.

And the payments are nowhere near enough to cover the costs of doing it all.

I reckon they need to double or perhaps even triple to make it worthwhile economically.

I have had it with the huge amount of crap arriving in my inbox every day, likely to cancel and go into CS instead.
Utter waste of time and money applying for CS @chaffcutter because as it stands most people who applied to join CS for 2022 and with a start date of 1st Jan 2022 for these agreements are still waiting to hear anything/ if their applications have been accepted and its now 16th March 2022...

All they are saying is that there will be guidance coming out in April about what to do ref your claim forms for 2022 agreements if you are still waiting to hear if you have been accepted or not..

And you only have 2 years from your start date to do any capital works and we are nearly already thru 1/4 of those 2 years..

Utter shambles..

Yes @Janet Hughes Defra it is an UTTER shambles and its just not good enough....

Ha ha you cant even get told if your application has been accepted let alone worrying about getting paid.

Utter shambles and how the likes of Janet can just ignore the mess they are in with CS etc is beyond belief.

They have too few staff trying to run far too many schemes and most of these schemes are drowning in totally pointless red tape which is making them complicated for the sake of it.

Sounds very much like the SFI pilot is dead in the water !! what a mess!!

When did your agreement start? Ours started on 1st November, and we received our first payment in mid February. There have been plenty of emails but nothing overwhelming and I'd rather be in the loop about what's expected. I'm no fan of ELMS, but I would say the pilot has been the best thing about it so far.

Natural England became part of Defra a couple of years ago.
When it was just NE, the staff were brilliant and would bend over backwards to help you.
Those staff that were originally with NE are still good.
Those that weren’t, still have that less helpful attitude.

By the sounds of it, I’m glad I’m not part of the SFI pilot. They’d be getting some very rude email replies from me if they sent more than one email a week, using any ‘geek like’ language!

I had 5 yesterday alone, forwarded on to me as my email isn't recognised, despite being the one I used to apply for SFI, apply for bps, apply for grants.
Utterly ridiculous.

ELMS is far too complex for both the farmer and DEFRA.

Farmers can't guarantee to establish cover crops if the British weather plays its normal tricks.

It's too complex and costly for DEFRA to administer.

KISS.
