SG2 Electrics - Hazard warning constantly flashing

Hi,

With the hazard warning switch in place, the flasher unit is constantly ticking, but the indicators don't flash. I can replicate by removing the hazard warning switch and putting a piece of wire across 15 to 45. This is technically off, but allows the circuit to operate i.e. lets you use the indicators as normal.

Does this suggest a bad earth somewhere? Not sure what would make the hazard warning symbol on the dashboard constantly flash.

Any ideas?

I know SG2 cab electrics can be awful but I would like the indicators to work more than the hazards if possible.

Thank you

I’d start by checking all the solder joints on the dash circuit boards. Cracked joints is one of the most common causes of electrical issues in them cabs.

I've have the side under the rev counter out and soldered up a lose capacitor but I doubt that is the cause. What do cracked joints look like? It all looked OK to me, but I'm not too sure what I'm looking for.

i have to agree with others. strip the dish and resolder all the joints. i suspect you have another warning that is not showing a light because of this problem hence the ticking.

Ok, looks like I'll need a magnifying glass!
Like @davidroberts30 says, your as well just dubbing every joint with the iron once it’s out as there’s not actually that many to do. It’s easy to miss one and chances are if you don’t do them all another will break in the near future and your back to square one!

It’s also worth checking the pins on the big plug on the front of the cab just under the bonnet. They can also get bad contacts.
