Wrap a strip of hessian sack around the tip before you hammer the point on

Have seen them roll pined as well (lee does this) but its hassle drilling new points and hard not to get swarf etc inside the point if you use gas axe or plasma

Had the legs drilled out properly and then we just gas the points. We didn't loose a point last autumn at all in over 2000ac of work. You can just see off this pic but I dont have any close ups sorry.

do you have a jig to get the point hole in the right spot with the gas ?

No we just guess it and have a leg in the workshop to try it on. If its to small we just make it bigger. Think we messed up on one which at £7.50/point isn't drastic.

We bought complete shakerator legs for £69 each and chopped the tops off. Then bought a sheet of Hardox steel and had the Sumo top bits cut out, then welded it together. Used a local engineering firm to make sure we matched the steel correctly. We have them running in trio and quatro and I also know of a tinemaster with them in as well.

Lee have they stood it ok looks a small area where welded together. Looking at doing same what are they wearing like compared to standard point and do you get shatter or are they like a knife through butter. Very abrasive sand with Flint here and looking for an alternative

We have bent 1 on some sandstone but yes they have worked very well for us. They do the same job as a shakerator does which is lift and shatter but we do not have any sand land.
