What's the ground lime I should get from Shap Tata Steel Quarry? Seems to be three options.

Ground limestone/Agri-lime
+6.3mm 1% max
+3.15mm 10% max
Indicative Neutralising Value 54.94%

Fine lime -5mm (high calcium quicklime)
>6.3mm 1% max
><1mm 60% min
-250 um 15% max

Fine lime -2mm (high calcium quicklime)
+3.15m 3% max

Anyone help please?

90% of the ground limestone is less than 3.15mm. How much is less than 150 micron, thats much more important to know. If 89% doesnt go through a 3mm sieve it's not much cop IMHO.
I was wondering that. Website provides no clues.

Quick lime used to be the most common lime used around here, a lot sold By Curtis & Co ,spread thousands of tons myself ,was unaware you could still get it , very fast acting , would not last as long as good ground lime

Closed at the moment for lime anyway. Hope to be running again in the autumn.

If you phone Shap to query the grades then Anne will probably tell you theres only one grade that they'll sell to farmers, and thats their "Ag Lime", as it doesn't attract aggregates tax.
It's reasonably fine, with some 1 to 2mm sized bits of dark hard grit mixed through it. It's decent stuff, better than most of the coarse crap on the market palmed off as "ground lime".
If you're buying it direct then have a word with Bullmans for the haulage, they like the fact that Shap will load 22 hours a day, it only closes for shift changes.

I spread hundreds and hundreds of tones of agri lime out of tata steel shap you need to speak to ann Mallinson the last I heard they were closed for the time being, so we get it out of Hansons the other side of the road both very good lime we also get some a hell of a lot cheaper out of Tenley quarries, but it is rough.
