Just received my brokers report on my share holdings for the year 2020. Across the board reading of my mixed portfolio is that I am about 20% DOWN from this time one year ago. Considering turmoil during 2020 am happy,as it could have been much worse.

That’s not good. Last I checked, I was well up based on a fairly aggressive international spread of investments.

If that's the best they can do you may aswell open your own account and gamble your own money rather than pay the spiv in a suit to blow it for you , at least you will have the satisfaction you didnt pay someone else to blow it for you!

Few years ago I was involved with an organisation that had significant investments, that were "self managed "
A vociferous minority were pushing for it to be put in the hands of the clever boys.
Agreed that (think it was £70k ) be put with the spivs
At the end of the 1st year including fees the self managed money had done 10% better.

I have used AJ Bell for share trading in a SIPP and ISA. Everything can be done online and the charges aren't bad for a financial institution.
