shared farming system

Have a pretty big say in most things as long as they effect profit and it’s win/win. Other things I’ve had to pay for myself like parlour matts and bigger wash down pump, do my life is more comfortable/quicker and I can then use less labour at times. Buying all stock in 2020 then move to 50/50 arrangement

Was thinkn of starting to milk cows but have been used with suckler and sheep for 20 years but cant see any future in them was thinkn of a shared farming arrangment on a yearly agreement that would suit the right person havent got the experience with milk and think instead of have staff on a wages let them have a say in the daily running of the cows plus they will have more interest when they have stock of there own and take the pressure off on a steep learning curve

You would want a 3 year minimum term in my opinion, the results of a good sharemilker will take several years to come through and they would want some security on work for more than a year as well. If they are a keen share milker (and that’s what you want) there going to be pushing the farm and animals, there almost certainly want a block calving herd as well, and a lot of there ways will be out of the box. Without any experience yourself your going to have to have a lot of confidence in them to get results unless you have a good consultant with this kind of experience in this. I can name a good one if you want.

I've followed your progress for the last couple of years . That's great news, well done!

Yes you want a three year minimum to go share milking for both party's . I started off managing a larger dairy 25 years ago to get some experience and purchased a herd in 2002 to go onto a 50/50 sharefarming arrangement . Did three years and then purchased my own farm back in 2005 . Dealt with a lot of problems over the years but I'm now full circle and selling my herd and have leased my farm to a young couple who take possession on 1st of July , our new financial year . It's a 250 cow farm but couldn't find a share farmer suitable so decided to go the leasing way instead . Looking forward to a holiday for the first time in ages ha ha .

I'm located in Australia . Southwestern Victoria near a town called Camperdown...
