If I clipped my lambs this month... when would they need clipped next year? (I do the lambs tails late August and the regrowth isn't worth bothering at shearing the next June)

Thinking of tupping 50 of the biggest/best... might clip them for a bit of fun
They will still need shearing next summer but you won't have to panic about it.

The lambs will be Texel X or Chev X out of Lleyns, so tight skinned to start with

Do you do everything, or leave the smallest ones?
If your shearing them in June or July I'd do them all but if your leaving them till September I'd leave the smallest incase the weather turns early.
They need feeding well after shearing

Would be sheared as normal next year. As well as our cross ewe lambs, we shear our hill ewe lambs(blackies and cheviots) mid August and then just do them with the milk ewes mid July as hoggs. Means all hill clipping in one gather and hoggs not bad for couping.
