I know the feeling- it seems never ending when you're working on your own. Chap that I shear with will come and do mine with me and then I'll go and do his with him. Always seems to go easier when there are 2 of you.
It does but we tend to dry sheep on our own (expect one very large flock) because there’s not usually that many of them. On your own it never flows.

I've only ever shorn my own sheep on my own. Probably why I dislike the job so much :cautious:
Got 100 dry hoggs to do I doubt they will be properly ready yet but I'll force my way through them end of the week or next week so I can get them grazing out of the way for a while. Not looking forward to it
Only 2 rams to shear this year though the rest have shorn themselves :D

Pretty sure I had one dropper like that , it came from George Mudge, he did manage to get a short gut for it so must be available.
Horners had them in stock, arrived today 👍

Anyone else hate shearing there own sheep, trying to get my dry mules done yesterday afternoon almost broke me, 120 sheared, wormed and the wool rolled and load onto trailer.
Quite the opposite!
As soon as the last cow has calved I move them out of the field next to the shed and let the ewes lambs and hogs into it. Do 15 or 20 at a time (I'm old and looking after my back) just shake a bag and enough charge into the shed to be done.
About 130 to do... I just plod along....it gives me something to do of an evening when it's cooler.

Sadly I’m trying to do 150-200 on my own and it’s not so relaxing.

I only do them as their coats are lifting....hogs are the worst as you know thick wool everywhere. Rams are the easiest, they stand whilst I clip them..no messing about.

Me too. My dad sometimes comes to wrap the wool and fill pens it gets a bit depressing when you think your getting somewhere and the pen looks to be emptying but you get back up to go get another sheep and the pens are full again.
