Shearwell software providers move to Scoteid

Any other users of shearwell farmworks cattle data frustrated by there failure to have software updated to communicate births, movements and deaths to Scoteid after BCMS stopped?

The changeover date was the 4th of October, they have had months to prepare and haven't got anything in place.

Spoke to them the week prior to changeover and was told Monday morning the 4th a update would be available and when I logged in the option to update would be there and that would be it. Be a week later and they now don't seem to have any idea when it will be ready.

They did have a tragedy within the business last weekend and can understand this would have delayed its release on Monday, but they have had weeks to prepare.

I was holding off registering calves till.the 4th because of the change over. But will just have to enter them manually now.

What has other peoples experience been of the end of BCMS with other software providers?

In the same boat with calf registrations, and thinking it's time to change the farm software.

Shearwell historically were always bang up to date, and were definitely the most versatile and user friendly software available

But in the past year and more they've been plagued by bugs and crashes. It seems every time the computer is switched on, shearwell needs another patch update which won't download through my "tremendous" rural broadband 2mb/s wi-fi 🤬

Is the bereavement the programmer of the family?

The whole software package and platform is antiquated. I'm the farm office nerd and use software for crop growing too and the shearwell stuff is terrible by comparison. It hasn't had a proper update in years. The drop down menus etc are terrible and takes a age to find stuff.

If you look at Breedr or other apps they are miles ahead. Don't know why shearwell don't buy one of the others out.

Only reason I don't change is I have years of data for all the cows I don't want to lose.

Simon and the team at shearwell are always very helpful if I do have a issue. Backups not a issue.

100% agree with this, why can’t have it cloud based with an app on phones in this day an age is v poor and the way the whole thing works is hard going, moving off animals having to constantly click the mart Box, same with registrations, u only need the breeds of bulls you have, having to scroll through looking for them every time is tedious.

I also spent the week trying to reg a death an start calf registrations thinking I was thick not finding the right way of linking the LRP to Scotmoves until I phoned the helpline and was told it was a problem with software. Hopefully it’s sorted soon…..

Use BorderSofware FarmIT3000 software here.
Monday morning I changed settings from bcms to scoteid.
Clicked the download button to compare what scoteid had with what our software had. Both the same so registered a new calf, it sent and confirmed no bother.
Logged onto scoteid website and the new calf was already showing.
Passport hasn't arrived yet.
But I'm fairly impressed as was fully expecting the switch to scotmoves to have issues! (New Scottish IT systems not got great track record)

had you seen this farm? Bit remote but a decent farm. Quite light land. We used to do the sowing there
A touch above our price range (lot 1) (we want to be debt free as part of the move) and now under offer but thanks for thinking of us.

I’ve been using AgriWebb this year. Great for pasture management side of things and good for keeping tabs on treatments and weights but not fully figured out the on off movements side of things and still do it on bcms then refresh the livestock on farm.
like the cloud side of things and the phone app (no more psion into laptop) but still on the fence. Had some old tgm software but similar by to shearwell was getting pretty archaic and felt old and hard to use

Fully agree with all you say above, the promised changes never seemed to happen so 2 years ago I switched to Farm Matters and don't regret it. Phone app now up and running and works well.
ScotMoves changes, no issues.

Any problems or improvement suggestions just contact Neil and it will be sorted.

We use AgriWebb on farm as well. We find it easy to use and it has definitely increased the efficiency of our operation in the last few years. I spoke to one of the farm success reps the other day and they were all over the shift from CTS to ScotEid and had done the work to ensure that all birth, death and movements were supported in their app and that they were complying with the gov regulations. Great to see an agtech being proactive in making sure their customers' experience isnt interrupted.

Maybe you should also declare you work for AgriWebb as well. Since you want to advertise, I have sent you a media pack plus a £99 invoice for breaking commercial rules on the site.

Hey, we don't have the new ScotEID integration live yet in our apps but we are testing it on our farms currently. Should be out to all farmers in a few weeks. On a different note, we have a little scheme running currently to help people thinking about a move.

To be clear this is the iLivestock team ;)
