shed costs for beef cattle

Won't they just charge from one side to the other?
They will be wandering all time imo. Having a mix of say corn, veg, Brewers grains etc and then some roughage thrown in a ring etc is the way to go with no TMR
Sorry I didn't make that clear, firstly the 32 feet is only the inside area, they will be fed from the outside and no scrape passages. We only do round bales so tmr is very limited when we need to blend in red clover or different cuts, we try to avoid tmr since the bales put a lot of strain on the wagon.
Biggest issue with limited feed space is feeding finishing barley mix on the top of baled silage, it is always hard work for them to find it, hence doubling the feed area would work around this. We only get about six/seven big cattle per 15 feet feed space at finishing so feed space becomes a premium.
i think it will just be a straw eater and they will need mucking out all the time

how much would a loose house shed cost to house 140/150 cattle?
what sort of size is needed?

Got two 120x50 sheds side by side with lean-to creating a center passage for feed, 15ft scrape passage and rest straw bedding. Chopper blows straw to back but at its max. Houses 200 fat when tight. Personally wouldn't want much longer if access is from the end as you have a long drive from back of shed to door cleaning out and to remove an animal for any reason if you need to lock back and pass 200ft of animals it takes time. Not far away if you want to look..... I also have sheds that have bad designs such as feed passage too narrow etc 🙈

Yes I think you have a point, maybe a scrape passage on the side and make it all wider.

do people find cattle performing better if the concentrate is mixed thru the silage rather than poured ontop?

Less sorting and nosing through feed, less bullying with tmr ration, possibly less feed space needed with tmr, we used to find a rush for water after feeding concentrates not in tmr also. Only reason I can see for not using tmr is pests like starlins
