anybody any photos of there grain drying setups?? looking at putting up a building over mecmar mobile grain dryer

I don't understand the purpose of the cap/hat?

If it's a damp/wet day it will just draw moisture in through the fan at front putting the moisture up.

Also ours quite often steams. The steam I imagine would rise underneath cap and form droplets dripping on whatever is being dried below.

Also a large percentage of cleaning is done when grain drops out of top, by wind blowing through it. The hat looks as though it would restrict it.

The 'big' farmers around here just dump it outside anyway. Say rain doesn't go far into it.

I wasn’t sure about the steam issue but not been a problem . There is a metal cap on top with a gap to let it out ! I quite often have the problem of wind whipping grain off top of dryer as quite exposed so top has cured this !
Suppose it’s a bit of a compromise .

There’s plenty covered ones about up here some no far away from you either. Personally I’d look at my neighbours ones they have two dryers up separate roofs and it’s a grand set up.

cover on top of drier stops rain getting down to bottom bearing and also leaving bottom tapered section sticky after rain when "empty". have operated outside for years without problems and no cover.
This year opico 12t model with shallow angle bottom was sticky after rain and can see water running out bottom and intake hopper bearing. its going to have a cover/roof next year

Most of the air goes out the sides not the top especially if its full to the brim.

How-do, Danagri-3s are selling ESMA mobile grain driers have a look on their website, they have got a number with "top hats" covering them

My son bought a Mec-Mar with a like this it keeps the rain out when the dryer is full but rains in when empty.

but Rome was not built in a day
unload in rain
plenty of air
