Shedding ewe lambs

I am after a good number of shedding ewe lambs .......

Three stipulations -

Born outside

Good types / clean shedders

High health status

After 200-600 depending on quality.

Having a nightmare finding anyone who actually seems to know their flocks health status with regard to icebergs etc.

Surely there must be someone else with a decent sized flock tht doesn’t have any icebergs, codd, foot rot or abortion ???

Or are we a lot more unique than I thought!

Wouldn’t know iceberg status as buy very very little in and those are from MV flocks anyway. Also don’t want to sell any as I need them all for myself, all 400😛

Looks like you might have to get some mules at this rate, do you want me to forward the catalogues. 😉🤭
Ah,yes we use to run mules great sheep had loads of lambs, but loads of problems too.its are fourth year lambing shedders and sheep work for you not you working for the sheep, can tell you would have walked past them at a show. But now tryed them and worked for us, so many benerfits.Bit of intrest had a kiwi over last week that helped me when had mules, said theres a huge amount wanting shedders in nz .

It was a joke, I know how much he hates mules. I’m seriously considering buying a shedder tup next year to put on home bred sheep. Just need to grow a better beard, dreadlocks and buy some sandals 😉😂😂

First of all replacing the texelX’s here, and then the mules and then the welsh probably. Struggling to grow numbers enough to replace the other breeds as taking land on and exlana’s on those blocks make sense due to ease of management.
No sandals, dreadlocks or dodgy beard either 🤣

You’ll be pleasantly surprised and we don’t all resemble Rastamouse. There slowly replacing the Romneys here.

Exactly. Some resemble an 80s porn star.

Oh yes there are lots and lots of folk heading to shedding in NZ

What I’ve established from asking questions is this -

Most of the easy care society have zero clue of their health status and they’ve been all buying rams from the same selection of folk who also have zero idea ..... but hve quite likely got a bit of johnnes, maybe a wee bit of mv and certainly some borders 😂 and they all avoid the question when asked ...... sort of similar to feeding tups for sale.

And the exlana lot do know their health status and are happy to discuss it.

Tin hat on!

Depends on the time of your and the quality. But I would probably go off the exlana valuation chart as that’s what I know, just knocked down slightly for various things.

What would you value them as ?
Not got a clue what I’d value them at 🤷🏻‍♂️ But as much as I love my Suffolk mules I’m starting too wonder if I need too start looking at less intensive options
