Sheep and daffodils

I’m starting out, with very limited experience - so apologies if question is daft:

Is it safe to graze a field with pregnant ewes (or ewes with lambs later in year) if there are daffodils in that field?

I’ve planted it up an orchard. It will be grazed. Experienced neighbour advised to plant daffodils around base of trees to reduce vole damage. But i don’t want to harm the sheep - they’re not mine!

I imagine the sheep won’t want to eat them, but i’m grazing hard in sections so they may get tempted!

Thanks in advance for any help.

cheers

They will ignore the daffodils but sheep will gnaw at the bark on the apple trees if your not careful . They will then not bear any fruit .

Thank you - really helpful. Each tree has deer guards on it which should keep the sheep off for a while. Sorry for follow up question but once the tree mature would i still need to protect them (i had in mind young bark is more nibblable!)

Given chance they will strip the bark of even old apple trees.

If they are kept tight they will also eat the daff leaves.

But the first thing they will do as they scummer around is knock off the lovely yellow blooms..:ROFLMAO::(

Happy days.:)

they will lie on them and kill them in time if under trees ,or the extra muck will make them grow like hell with no flowers , i have had ewes poisoned with daffs and bluebells in past if tight ,they usually graze round daffs but i think they were a modern variety and prob tasted good , compared to the old types found on welsh hills , just keep a close eye on them .

Thanks all - i appreciate the swift replies. I’ll try garlic for this year (which apparently also helps) and daffs from the autumn, and will let you know if either actually work!
