Currently keeping a flock of sheep on rented land at a farm near here... I don’t have a base I just run the flock on grazing licences...
when I moved the sheep on I just moved them onto the farmers CPH number as surely you do?

Rang APHA because with my first lambing coming up I will need a UK number for tagging and they said ah yeah no problem we will send the forms out you need to fill in, first you’ll have to register for a temporary CPH number too cover your livestock as they’re mine not the farmer I’m renting ground offs....

Reading the forms they’ve sent me the Temporary CPH number only covers 30 days and it also says I need too have a permanent CPH number...

Couldn’t get any more confused now anybody else running on grazing licences shed any light on what I need to do too get a UK number for tags?

Get a CPH number on your house, use that CPH to get your flock number (which you need for your tags), link your CPH to the land you're renting on grazing licenses with a IRA75 if its within 10 miles of your house, if not just do a movement as you would with any other land.

I assumed you wouldn’t be able to get a CPH number on a house surely they’ll wonder how I intend too keep 200 sheep on a 2 bedroom terraced house?

A CPH is meant to be given to an individual, they need some way to track you. We had exactly the same situation as you and that was what APHA ended up doing. We've got a CPH for our house, where never keep stock and a TLA on the farm which is rented on a grazing license.

Brilliant thanks, will phone them in the morning and register the house for a CPH number, whole system is such a bloody farce it’s driving me up the wall

I will say though, when I first suggested doing this they told me they wouldn't do it and it was only after I sent in my TLA form did they then say, we need to register your house location for the CPH.

It is a messed up system and you might have to phone multiple times.

Well Done. We had such a hassle trying to sort ours out as no one has any idea what anyone else has done. All we tried to do was correct the name on ours and the pollava was unbelievable !! All due to someone giving us the wrong information in the first place!! My next door neighbor said “if it’s working don’t try and correct them” and o how I wished I’d listened. Having said that, your last comment was true. Someone with a brain and it’s simple.
